Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has indicated that Los Blancos will no longer make major purchases towards next season after Jude Bellingham. Pérez did confirm the arrival of Spanish international Joselu (33) on Sunday.
Pérez confirms the arrival of a new striker and excludes top transfer from Mbappé
Peréz told Spanish media that the Joselu will be presented in Madrid this week. On Monday morning, Real announced the transfer of the striker, who won the Nations League title with Spain in De Kuip on Sunday evening. The former (youth) player of Real is loaned from Espanyol for a season and can then be taken over for one and a half million euros.
Real recently took Bellingham away from Borussia Dortmund for more than a hundred million euros. In the past period, Kylian Mbappé was also linked to Real Madrid again, but the French attacker, who does not want to renew his ongoing contract with Paris Saint-Germain, does not seem to be moving to Estadio Santiago Bernabéu next summer.
According to Pérez, Real will keep its hand on the purse next summer. When asked whether La Liga’s number two will present more reinforcements in the past season, apart from Bellingham and Joselu, the chairman was clear: “No”. Real recently said goodbye to Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio, among others.
Griezmann surprises with big football dream
Antoine Griezmann has spoken out about a big football dream that the 32-year-old attacker still has. That is not winning the Champions League or becoming champion of Spain, but participating in the Olympic Games with France.
2024 could be a very busy year for Griezmann. The attacker of Atlético Madrid will not only play in La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey next season, but could end the season with the European Championship followed by the Olympic Games.
At a press moment at France, Griezmann announced that he would like to go to the Olympics. At the Games, held in Paris, a nation may field only Under-23 players, with the exception of three dispensation players. “If I get called up, I will do my very best to be allowed to play. It’s a dream and a goal of mine,” he revealed.
There is a good chance that Griezmann will first play the European Championship, which starts on June 14 and the final is on July 14. Twelve days later, the Olympic Games begin and the football tournament ends on August 10. Nevertheless, the Frenchman hopes to be able to participate in both tournaments.
Captain’s armband
In addition, Griezmann has reacted to losing his captain’s armband. National coach Didier Deschamps appointed Kylian Mbappé as the new captain of France. “It took me a day or two to digest it. But now I’m completely okay with the choice of Mbappé. It’s a pleasure to play with him and he knows we need him, like last World Cup. What he did in the final was not normal,” he said.
