Luka Modric signs a contract with Real Madrid for next season. As expected, the Croatian midfielder has extended his expiring contract by one year.
Real Madrid removes the last doubts about the future of Modric
It had been expected for some time that Modric would stick to it for another year at Real, now De Koninklijke has also dispelled the last doubts. The 37-year-old playmaker therefore starts his twelfth season in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
After Toni Kroos (33), for example, another veteran is retained for Real. Another club icon recently left for Al-Ittihad with Karim Benzema (35). Modric was also reportedly able to sign in Saudi Arabia, but was not tempted by the petrodollars.
Modric is the longest-serving player in the Real selection after Benzema’s departure. The Croat has played a total of 488 official matches for the club since his arrival in 2012 and won the Champions League five times and three national titles in that period alone.
Even now that the years are starting to count, Modric remains of great value to coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Next season, the Golden Ball winner of 2018 will have a competitor in midfield due to the arrival of Jude Bellingham.
Recently, Real Madrid also announced that defender Nacho Fernández will remain loyal to the club and Dani Ceballos extended his expiring contract. On the other hand, the transfer-free departure of Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Mariano Díaz.
Real Madrid target Güler might be very expensive due to commission requirement
Looking at his talent and potential, the clause worth 17.5 million euros in Arda Güler’s contract seemed like a bargain for Real. But it now seems to be clear that interested clubs have to dig a lot deeper into their pockets. Güler’s advocates expect a hefty commission from the buying club.
The Spanish Relevo comes with the story and this is confirmed in Italian media. For a long time, Ajax and AC Milan were the only clubs linked by Turkish media to Güler. Who is under contract with Fenerbahçe. Last week it came out that Barcelona and Real Madrid are also involved in the battle.
After the interest from those clubs, Spanish media dived into the story and Relevo thus came to know that the 17.5 million clause is not the only hurdle for interested clubs. According to Spanish and Italian sources, Güler’s agent and the footballer’s father expect around fifteen million in commission.
Those commissions for agents are a thorn in the side of FIFA. The world football association will introduce a commission ceiling this year. But the Güler entourage can still benefit before the new rules come into effect on September 30, 2023.
