Aston Villa have signed Pau Torres. The Spanish defender comes from Villarreal for about forty million euros.
Aston Villa brings Torres to England for forty million
Because Torres only had a one-year contract left, Villarreal couldn’t ask for the top prize for him, although it can’t be completely dissatisfied with the amount the club eventually gets for him. Torres will compete with Tyrone Mings, Diego Carlos and Ezri Konsa at Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old Torres will work again at Aston Villa with manager Unai Emery, whom he knows well from his time at Villarreal. Emery has indicated to the English club management that he would like Torres and has got his way. Reportedly, Torres has signed on for six seasons.
Tahith Chong signs for newly promoted Premier League side
This season, Tahith Chong will compete in the Premier League. As reported by English media, a deal about the Dutchman has been struck between recently promoted Luton Town and Birmingham City.
The 23-year-old Chong had a solid track record at bigger teams last season, contributing four goals as well as five assists in 38 Championship outings. According to reports, Chong costs Luton Town 4.5 million euros. Manchester United, who at the time agreed to a resale portion, receives 25% of that.
According to English media, the move of Chong to Luton Town has not yet been completed because he must still go through a medical exam. The Dutch forward appears to be joining Luton Town in the Premier League, though.
Chong comes from the youth academy of Feyenoord. And moved to the youth academy of Manchester United in the summer of 2016. A breakthrough in the first team failed to materialize and after loan spells to Werder Bremen and Club Brugge, he was sold to Birmingham last summer, where his contract ran until 2026.
Ajax wants Van den Berg
Ajax wants to strengthen its defense with Sepp van den Berg. The team from Amsterdam is in talks with the central defender of Liverpool. For whom there is also a German interest.
Van den Berg still has an ongoing contract with Liverpool, which loaned him out to Schalke 04 last season. The English top club is again prepared to cooperate with the departure of the 21-year-old Dutchman. Preferably again on a rental basis.
Ajax is seriously interested in the arrival of the right central defender, where it will attract at least one, but ultimately even two new players due to the departure of Jurriën Timber.
However, the Amsterdammers are not the only ones in the market for Van den Berg. Union Berlin and FSV Mainz have also reported to Liverpool for the former PEC Zwolle player.
