Ashley Young continues his career in the Premier League. The 38-year-old fullback signed a one-year contract with Everton on Thursday and will enter his seventeenth season in the Premier League.
Premier League, Ashley Young veteran moves to Everton
Young walked out of his contract with Aston Villa this summer and will be reunited with Sean Dyche at Everton. In the autumn of his active career, the 52-year-old manager wore the Watford captain’s armband, where Young made his breakthrough at the time. In total, both men were on the field together for 25 games at The Hornets.
Young launched his career at Vicarage Road and successively wore the shirt of Aston Villa, Manchester United, Internazionale and again Villa. Everton will be Young’s fifth club, who hopes to add the necessary experience at Goodison Park.
Fitter than ever
“I’ve always said age is just a number to me,” Young says on the Everton club site. “I feel fitter than ever. If the manager needs me, I’m ready. I want to use my experience to help the team. I’ve been there, I know what it’s like. If I can help younger players with that, that’s fantastic.”
Everton to pay between 17.5 and 23 million euros for Anthony Elanga
Manchester United are happy to say goodbye to a number of players this summer and the first seems to be on its way out. The BBC reports that Everton has made an offer for Anthony Elanga, and manager Erik ten Hag has allowed him to leave Old Trafford.
They say that Everton has offered an amount between 17.5 and 23 million euros. That would be welcome money for United and Ten Hag. Man United already brought in Mason Mount this summer and wants to complete the arrival of keeper Andre Onana soon, but needs money to be able to get reinforcements in other positions.
The 21-year-old Elanga was picked up by United in 2015. And then went through part of the youth academy at the English top club. He made his debut in the main force, but never made a crushing impression. Ten Hag called on Elanga 26 times last season, who did not score a single time in those matches. According to the BBC, there is also interest from Germany for the attacker.
