Espanyol’s Joselu signs with Real Madrid on a loan deal. The duration of the contract would be for a season.
Real Madrid has a new striker quickly after Benzema’s departure
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is done. Joselu is rented for a year from Espanyol, which receives a rental fee of half a million euros. After that, Real Madrid can take over the striker for one and a half million euros, but the purchase option is not mandatory. In addition, the Spaniard is handing in salary to play at Real Madrid next season.
The 33-year-old striker is a real late bloomer. He has been scoring consistently in the past two seasons in La Liga. Last season he made fourteen for Espanyol and this season the counter stands at sixteen goals. He made his debut for the Spanish national team in March at the age of 32. Ten minutes before the end he came on against Norway and the striker then scored twice more.
Last Thursday he came back in the final phase and Joselu scored the winning goal against Italy two minutes before the end, putting Spain in the final of the Nations League on Sunday. Joselu also played for Real Madrid in the past. He came into action twice in the main force. He then ended up at Espanyol via Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover 96, Stoke City, Deportivo La Coruna, Newcastle United and Deportivo Alavés.
Atlético Madrid’s interest in Amrabat seems to have cooled
Atlético Madrid seem to withdraw from the race for Sofyan Amrabat’s signature. According to Spanish reports, Los Rojiblancos have other priorities in the transfer market.
Nordin Amrabat revealed last week that Atlético is charmed by his younger brother. Yet the number three of La Liga does not seem to continue. Relevo writes that Atlético has decided not to continue for the time being. Amrabat does not currently fit the profile that trainer Diego Simeone has in mind.
That does not mean that Atlético will not come back. Fiorentina hopes for a sale anyway and tries to sell the Moroccan international. The asking price is reportedly still around thirty million euros, but it cannot be ruled out that the club from Florence is willing to settle for less as the transfer period progresses.
