Real Madrid has come up with a surprising name in the search for a new striker, the club will loan Espanyol striker Joselu (33) for one season.
Real Madrid picks up a new striker from relegated side
Spanish media, including Marca, report this. Joselu was one of the bright spots at relegated Espanyol. The striker signed for sixteen goals and two assists in 34 LaLiga games this season and has to compete with Karim Benzema in the Bernabéu. At least, if the French striker stays, because there are rumors that he may leave.
Benzema is said to be open to a mega offer from Saudi Arabia and to have put the ball at Real Madrid. Spanish media reported extensively on this on Tuesday. Benzema could earn a monster amount in two years at a club from Saudi Arabia. It is not known which club it is. Real Madrid is aware of the situation.
If it comes to that, Real Madrid already has an alternative inboard with Joselu. According to MARCA, the striker can be obtained under attractive conditions due to Espanyol’s relegation. Only the salary needs to be taken over by Real Madrid. But there is little chance that Joselu will be the only striker in the Bernabéu if Benzema leaves, because the club would also still be hunting for a real top striker, with the name of Harry Kane regularly falling again.
Brazilian federation hopes for Ancelotti: “Have the feeling it’s going to happen”
The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) thinks that Carlo Ancelotti will be the new national coach. The Real Madrid coach is at the top of the list of candidates. And Brazil has a good chance of signing him, according to president Ednaldo Rodrigues.
Shortly after Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the last World Cup, national coach Tite decided to resign immediately, after he had already indicated that it would be his last final tournament. In the meantime, Brazil has still not established the ideal successor to Tite. But they did find it. “We have a Plan A and that is Carlo Ancelotti,” Rodrigues told UOL Sport.
“And we feel like that’s going to happen. He loves the Brazilian national team, he knows many players and knows how Brazilian football works. Brazil has many competent coaches, which we appreciate very much, but the priority is with him,” Rodrigues added. He also indicated that he has a commitment that Ancelotti will sit down with the Brazilian federation.
The Italian coach is still stuck in Madrid until the summer of 2024 and the question is whether Brazil is willing to pay a transfer fee and whether Ancelotti himself wants to leave early. According to the Spanish Marca, the CBF is also prepared to only incorporate him in 2024 and to work with an interim pause in the meantime.
