Real Madrid have finalised the arrival of Jude Bellingham. The Spanish top club and Borussia Dortmund announced the top transfer of the English international on Wednesday afternoon.
Top transfer Bellingham completed: Real and Dortmund announce contract duration
Last week it was already announced that Bellingham would make the switch to Real, but both clubs have now also completed all the paperwork. The midfielder moves to Madrid for at least 103 million euros. The transfer fee can increase even further due to bonuses. Bellingham is the fourteenth player to change clubs for at least one hundred million euros.
The nineteen-year-old Englishman will be officially presented on Thursday at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Bellingham signed a commitment until mid-2029 with Real Madrid. In the summer of 2020, Dortmund transferred about thirty million euros to Birmingham City for the now 24-time international.
We thank Jude for his three seasons with Borussia Dortmund. It was a fantastic time together,” says managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke on the Dortmund club site. “We also want to thank Real Madrid for the always honest and constructive talks.”
Bellingham scored 24 goals and 25 assists in 132 official games for Dortmund. “I want to thank everyone at Dortmund for the past few years. I was honoured to wear the Dortmund shirt. I’m looking forward to my new challenge, but I’ll never forget the road to get there,” Bellingham said.
Milner signs with Brighton and can hunt for a Premier League record
Talking about English midfielders, Brighton & Hove Albion has announced the arrival of James Milner. The Seagulls take over the 37-year-old midfielder on a free transfer from Liverpool, where he was under contract for eight years. Alexis Mac Allister recently went the other way around.
Milner’s move has been in the air for a long time and both clubs confirmed the move through official channels on Wednesday. Brighton, sixth in the Premier League last season, previously signed João Pedro for 34 million euros. That meant a record transfer for the employer of Joël Veltman and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Milner played 332 official matches for Liverpool between 2015 and last season and won the Champions League (2018/19) and the Premier League (2019/20) with The Reds, among others. The veteran previously played for Leeds United, Swindon Town (rental base), Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Milner is third on the list of players with the most Premier League appearances with 619 games. He only has to tolerate Gareth Barry (652) and Ryan Giggs (632). Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is delighted with Milner’s arrival. “He is an excellent asset. I’m sure he will help take us to an even higher level,” said the Italian on the Brighton club site, which will play in the Europa League next season.
