Stefan de Vrij extends his stay with Internazionale. The Champions League finalist has announced the contract extension of the 31-year-old Dutchman.
Internazionale keeps De Vrij inboard
De Vrij’s contract with the Nerazzurri expired last week, but in recent months it has become clear that both parties would continue with each other. Inter has now confirmed that news: De Vrij has signed up until mid-2025.
The 31-year-old defender will be ready for seasons six and seven at Inter. In recent years he has played more than two hundred games for the Milanese. Teammate Milan Skriniar has left on a free transfer, he has signed for PSG.
Internazionale sees successor to Onana in the Premier League
Internazionale is on the verge of losing Andre Onana and is already considering possible successors to the Cameroonian. According to French media, Hugo Lloris is the top candidate in Milan.
Onana seems to be on his way to Manchester United, where he can be reunited with Erik ten Hag. Inter can count on a hefty transfer fee for the 27-year-old who still has a contract with the Nerazzurri until mid-2027.
Nevertheless, due to the financial situation, Inter does not seem to be planning to get an expensive replacement. The Milanese are looking at cheaper options. According to L’Équipe, Lloris is the number one candidate. The 36-year-old Frenchman still has a one-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur, who have already signed a new goalkeeper. According to the French sports newspaper, Lloris is also interested in the move to Inter.
The name of Yann Sommer also falls. The 34-year-old Swiss can leave Bayern Munich after six months, as he has a clause in his contract. Sommer is said to cost about nine million euros, which Bayern transferred to Borussia Mönchengladbach in January, when the club was looking for a temporary or permanent replacement for Manuel Neuer.
Inter is therefore clearly betting on experience, but would also like to sign a second, younger goalkeeper. Anatoliy Trubin (21) from Shakhtar Donetsk is mentioned in Italian media. It should cost between ten and fifteen million euros.
