AS Roma has captured Houssem Aouar. The Olympique Lyon midfielder signs a contract in Italy until the summer of 2028.
From Olympique Lyon to AS Roma: the club’s child signs until 2028
Aouar (24) comes from Lyon’s youth academy and broke through in the first team in 2017. This season he missed a number of games due to injuries, but before that he was assured of a starting place. Aouar’s contract with Lyon expired and therefore Roma can pick him up on a free transfer. Aouar plays in the same position as Georginio Wijnaldum. The contract of the midfielder rented from Paris Saint-Germain contained a purchase option, which was not exercised.
“Very happy to have signed with AS Roma, a great club with a great history,” Aouar said through Roma channels. “I think this is the right project for me: a big team, quality players and a unique constituency. I am now a Roma player and can’t wait to get started.”
Stefan de Vrij about his future with Inter Milan: “We are discussing it”
Staying in Italy, Stefan de Vrij was named the best defender in Italy in 2020, but this season he is regularly on the bench. However, a longer stay at Inter Milan is not excluded.
Stefan de Vrij played almost everything in recent seasons, but this season ‘only’ came to 27 matches in Serie A. The 31-year-old defender from the Netherlands has an expiring contract in Inter Milan. Is he leaving? “That is not certain yet, but what is certain is that I am having a good time. We are discussing it,” Stefan de Vrij told NOS.
Stefan de Vrij is confident that he can fight his way back. “I have confidence in myself and that’s what I’m going for. There are always things to consider, like this. We are talking and after the Champions League final there will be more clarity,” the defender concluded.
Stefan de Vrij made the transfer from Lazio to Inter Milan in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer. He left Feyenoord four years earlier, after a successful World Cup in Brazil. That was in 2014.
