Virgil van Dijk is set to become the highest paid player in Liverpool history after agreeing to a £220,000-a-week deal.
Van Dijk currently earns £180,000-a-week and could have earned another £100,000 on top of that if he had signed for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly want to sign Van Dijk, but Sportsmail also recognizes that Liverpool has no concerns about his departure.
The Holland international will sign a five-year contract worth £57million, according to The Sun. The deal is completed but there will be no public announcement until next month.
The former Southampton defender is understood to be happy with the £40,000, a week rise that will take him above current top earner Mohamed Salah. He will sign a deal at least till the end of the 2024-25 season.
Jurgen Klopp is also keen to get a new contract to Sadio Mane that would put him on par with Van Dijk.
