Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar has stated that the club won’t sell their star players for cheap prices because of the coronavirus crisis.
The Ajax CEO told Dutch publication NoS: “There will always be some who will benefit from a crisis and some clubs will have to sell for less, but I think we’re in a lucky position due to our strong financial policy. That’s why we won’t have to sell, but we signed deals with the players. They’re not going to go below a certain price level. We’re not going to let our players go for selling prices.”
He continued, “We know players have a desire to leave after a couple of years for a better competitive rivalry, but this will only happen under Marc Overmars and Ajax conditions.”
