Midfielder Riyad Mahrez has summed up Manchester City’s match against PSG in the Champions League semi-final first leg.
Manchester City won 1-2 over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes yesterday, and thus secured two precious away goals.
Though Marquinhos’ goal gave PSG an early lead which remained for an hour, two City goals reversed the match.
Captain Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez, scored the two unexpected goals.
De Bruyne bizarrely wasn’t even trying to score, whereas Mahrez’s free kick somehow slid through a wall of defenders.
Mahrez’s Words
And now, himself born a Parisian, Mahrez has summed up Manchester City’s match against PSG.
“In the first half we didn’t know how to create danger at their goal, they outclassed us a little bit. But then we imposed our game, the one in which we are strong. I agree that we were lucky with both goals,” the player told RMC Sport.
About their defense, he made a comment: “We were good at defending, while they failed to get the ball to their forwards, Mbappe in particular. In matches like this, defending well is very important.”
“We didn’t play our best game before the break but I wouldn’t say that PSG were that strong. Apart from the goal, they didn’t have many chances. We were better in the second half but we weren’t perfect either,” he continued.
“We did not play our best game, but we won. The outcome of the encounter is still undecided, we have a slight advantage. We will have to play even better in order to qualify for the final.”
