Alexis Mac Allister has been acquired from Brighton & Hove Albion and has signed for four years. Thus Liverpool have made their first major purchase in the squad’s planned rebuild.
Liverpool draws the purse strings and presents world champion Mac Allister
The 24-year-old Mac Allister became world champion with Argentina in December. The midfielder had a regular starting place during the tournament in Qatar and aroused the interest of many wealthy clubs. However, they did not continue in January; now it comes to a step higher.
It is unknown what Liverpool paid to buy out Mac Allister’s contract for another two years, but according to various media it would be around €40 million. The midfielder had a limited transfer fee in his contract and Liverpool took advantage of that.
Mac Allister had been on Brighton’s payroll since January 2019, although he was first loaned out twice, first to Argentinos Juniors (the club Brighton had bought the midfielder from) and then to Boca Juniors. He reported to England at the end of January 2020 and made his debut in the Premier League more than a month later, on March 7, against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The midfielder says goodbye with 112 official games for Brighton to his name.
It is expected that Mac Allister, sixteen-time international of Argentina, will certainly not be Liverpool’s last purchase for next season. The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League last season, taking next to Champions League football. Jürgen Klopp must now build a new team that can rejoin the top.
Rice is leaving West Ham United after nine years
Declan Rice (24) will exchange West Ham United for a new club this summer. This has been confirmed by chairman David Sullivan.
“We promised him he could go,” Sullivan told talkSPORT after winning the Conference League final. “He’s determined to go. You can’t wish for a man who has worked more for us this season than he did.”
He added, “It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him 200 thousand pounds (more than 230 thousand euros) a week eighteen months ago, but he turned it down.” The midfielder, who has a price tag of at least one hundred million euros around his neck, was explicitly associated with Bayern Munich, among other things. Sullivan expects to receive bids for West Ham’s strongman on Thursday.
Rice, who joined West Ham in 2014 and was also active in Chelsea’s youth, played a total of 204 Premier League matches for West Ham United. He scored ten times and provided an assist ten times. He made 41 appearances for the England national team.
