Arsenal are trying to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea. The Gunners have already expressed interest in the German international to the fellow townsman, The Athletic knows.
“Arsenal goes for a transfer stunt and reports for Havertz”
Arsenal was on course for the first league title since 2004 last season, but was eventually overtaken by Manchester City. Mikel Arteta wants to continue for next season and is looking hard to strengthen his selection with his technical team. Out of nowhere, the serious interest in Havertz has come out.
In the summer of 2020, 24-year-old Havertz made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea for eighty million euros. He has played 139 games for that club so far, 47 of which in the past football year. Two years ago, Havertz scored the winning goal in the Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester City.
Chelsea will not play European football next season and Havertz is very disappointed. The striker has been linked with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in recent times; now Arsenal is also in the race. Havertz’s contract with Chelsea will run for another two years.
Declan Rice
Arsenal have also been linked for some time now with Declan Rice, who has indicated his intention to leave West Ham United. The Gunners are expected to make an offer for the midfielder soon. Rice’s contract with West Ham has one more year left.
Transfer to Premier League is becoming increasingly likely for Verbruggen
Burnley already made an offer for Bart Verbruggen and now Brighton & Hove Albion has also officially reported to Anderlecht, Het Nieuwsblad knows.
Brighton’s interest had already been reported and the number seven of the past Premier League season is now pushing through. Brighton already has a Dutch keeper under contract with Kjell Scherpen, who played on a rental basis for Vitesse last season. Scherpen and Verbruggen are both in the European Championship selection of the Dutch Juniors and both played in the exhibition game against Japan on Wednesday.
Burnley has made an offer of about fifteen million euros for twenty-year-old Verbruggen, but Anderlecht is trying to get the most out of it and has not immediately accepted this. It is not known how far Brighton is willing to go for the keeper.
Verbruggen played in 37 matches for Anderlecht last season. He managed to keep his sheet clean thirteen times. Previously, the youngster was also linked to Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
