Harvey Barnes has become the second top purchase of the ambitious Newcastle United before this summer. An agreement with Leicester City on the transfer conditions is near.
Newcastle United almost has second top purchase
Newcastle United also wanted Barnes last year, but then Leicester City rejected another offer from the north of the country. Now The Magpies , who will enter the Champions League next season, seem to be successful. The Guardian writes that everything indicates that Newcastle United will trump competitors West Ham United and Aston Villa.
The wealthy Newcastle United will pay about forty million euros for 25-year-old Barnes, a left winger who played one international match for the English national team. Leicester City, who were relegated from the Premier League, previously sold James Maddison to Tottenham Hotspur for 47 million euros. In contrast, the arrival of Harry Winks and Conor Coady were confirmed.
Newcastle United previously brought in Sandro Tonali. The Italian international, a 23-year-old defensive midfielder, came over from AC Milan for around 65 million euros. That amount can increase considerably due to bonuses.
Chelsea FC embraces club legend Terry again
Speaking about Leicester City, a few months after his departure, John Terry (42) is back at Chelsea FC. The former top defender will take on a role in The Blues’ academy .
Terry joined Chelsea FC’s academy in the 1990s as a fifteen-year-old boy. There he would become an absolute club legend. As captain, he grew with the club to great heights. Terry played more than seven hundred official matches and won seventeen prizes with Chelsea FC.
To get another year of playing, Terry left for Aston Villa in 2017. After one season in the rear, he was able to start immediately as assistant coach to Dean Smith at Villa Park. After Smith’s departure, Terry returned to Chelsea FC in January 2022 to start training.
When Smith was appointed interim manager of Leicester City in April, Terry went with him again. Since Smith was not given a permanent position at relegated Leicester, Terry was also without a job again. He now returns to Chelsea FC. It is not yet clear what his role will be exactly.
