Robert Lewandowski would like joining forces with Lionel Messi if he returned to Barcelona. The Spanish top club is currently investigating the possibilities of bringing Messi back and the Polish top striker is interested in a collaboration.
Lewandowski supports Barcelona transfer plans: “That would be incredible”
Barcelona is doing very well in La Liga this season. With 53 goals for and nine against, the club is thirteen points ahead of rivals Real Madrid. Nevertheless, Lewandowski likes an offensive impulse. “Messi belongs to Barcelona,” Lewandowski told Mundo Deportivo. “If he returns, it would be something incredible.”
Messi left Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 and moved to Paris Saint-Germain. There he scored fourteen goals and fourteen assists in 25 league games this season. His contract expires next summer, leaving Barcelona hopeful of a return. “We know Barcelona is his place. I don’t know what will happen, but I hope I can play with him next season,” he adds.
Lewandowski himself made the switch from Bayern Munich to Barcelona last summer. There he scored seventeen times in 24 La Liga matches. This makes him Spain’s top scorer, but the Pole certainly sees room for improvement. “People always expect more goals and I am convinced that we can do even better offensively,” he concludes.
Valencia receives bad news about star man Kluivert
Justin Kluivert has suffered a serious muscle injury, employer Valencia reports. Last weekend went wrong for the mercenary against UD Almería, just after a period in which he excelled for the Spaniards.
Kluivert got into better shape this season and now has five goals in La Liga. The last time he scored five times in a competition was his last season in the shirt of Ajax (2017/18). Things went wrong just before the break in the away match against Almería, when Kluivert stopped a sprint and grabbed his hamstring.
Valencia confirmed the bad news about the muscle injury on Tuesday evening. The club does not mention a recovery time, but Marca knows that he will not play again in April. “Losing Kluivert is a sensitive matter for Baraja (the coach of Valencia). The attacker has become the best player in the team in the past month,” they stated.
With eighteenth place, Valencia is currently in the relegation zone of La Liga. The club will play against relegation candidates Elche, Real Valladolid and Cádiz in April, but can therefore not rely on Kluivert.
