Fulham will probably have to do one or more match(es) without manager Marco Silva. The Portuguese went red in the lost cup match with Manchester United and now has a second charge from the FA on his pants.
Fulham manager Silva can expect suspension after double charges
He was previously charged by the English Football Association for his behavior towards the referee during the match. Fulham were surprisingly ahead until Manchester United were awarded a penalty. The Cottagers protested fiercely: in addition to the offender who made hands, Aleksandar Mitrovic and thus coach Silva also received a red card for protesting.
United won the match and Silva was still white-hot afterwards. “We’ve had a hard time this season with Chris Kavanagh (the referee). Many times we have had no luck with him, and often it is difficult to understand that. Everyone can see what happened today,” Silva snorted. That now brings him another charge from the FA for questioning an arbitrator. In addition, he is also charged with throwing a water bottle at a linesman.
Silva has until Wednesday to respond to the charges. A verdict will then follow in the following days. Fulham, which is having a great season as a promoted club with ninth place, will probably have to do without Silva for a while. Mitrovic, who pushed Kavanagh, can also look forward to a long suspension.
Chelsea blames huge loss partly on situation around Abramovich
Staying in London, Chelsea has announced the annual figures for the 2021/22 season. The Londoners suffered a huge loss of 138 million euros.
The Blues cite the situation around owner Roman Abramovich as one of the reasons for the large shortage. In March 2022, the British government placed the Russian on a sanctions list of people suspected of having ties to President Vladimir Putin, obviously as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As a result, Chelsea faced restrictions on selling tickets and signing contracts with players. That situation came to an end on May 30, when American businessman Todd Boehly bought the club. Boehly is the reason that much redder numbers can be expected next year.
After all, the next annual accounts will show the transfers of the past summer and winter. In total, Chelsea spent more than 570 million euros on new players such as PSV acquisition Noni Madueke. That amount can be spread over several seasons on the basis of depreciation.
Chelsea concludes by saying that despite everything, the financial rules in England and those of UEFA are being met.
