BREAKING NEWS – Lionel Messi wins the Ballon d’Or for a record seventh time, for his last (21st) season with Barcelona. After his ex-La Liga rival and present Paris Saint-Germain teammate Sergio Ramos supported Messi (the football news), he has won!
The mercurial Argentinian is thus claiming the seventh Golden Ball of his remarkable career to date, a record in history.
Lionel Messi has once again, because of which he now has two more Ballon d’Or trophies than arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
The five-time winner, now at Manchester United, has finished outside of the top three for the first time since 2010.
Meanwhile, Messi collected this latest of prestigious prizes at a glitzy gala in Paris on Monday. So, the PSG superstar did not have to travel far after severing ties with La Liga’s Barcelona in the summer.

Receiving a Ballon d’Or is tantamount to receiving recognition as the best player on the planet for 2021.
And Messi bagged this honour by topping the chart after enjoying another memorable year with club and country.
Then captain of the Catalan club, Messi helped Barcelona to Copa del Rey glory back in April.
He then went on to land a novel senior 2021 Copa America trophy as the captain of Argentina’s national team.
This South American competition also named him their Player of the Tournament – Messi came home with the two top trophies.
However, the football world was stunned shortly after that success when it emerged that Messi was leaving Barcelona for PSG. Barca couldn’t afford to renew the talismanic figure’s contract, and, ending a career-long association with Catalan, Messi headed to France.
Now, in the new 2021-22 season, Messi has found the going a little tougher at PSG.
Still, he registered three assists on his last outing against Saint-Etienne. Also, he has four goals to his name through 11 appearances.
