According to Spanish media, Daley Blind will soon finalise his transfer to Girona FC. The 33-year-old international was in Girona last Thursday and already received a tour of the number ten in La Liga last season.
Blind is approaching the switch to La Liga after a visit to Catalonia
According to AS and Mundo Deportivo, Blind is approaching a final agreement with Girona. The veteran is currently still staying with the Dutch national team. With which he is preparing for the Nations League match against Croatia (Wednesday in De Kuip).
Blind will remain with the Orange until the Final Four match with the Croats. Just like AZ midfielder Tijjani Reijners, he is on standby if a teammate from the final selection drops out with an injury. Blind will not return to Bayern Munich after the international period, where the 101-time international has been under contract since January.
Blind’s role at Bayern was limited to four raids and one basic place. The former Ajax player has not played for Der Rekordmeister since the beginning of March. Girona returned to La Liga last season and maintained itself this year with a tenth place. The club from Catalonia is owned by the City Football Group.
Honorary chairman of Bayern expresses concerns about money flows in Saudi Arabia
Uli Hoeness, honorary chairman of Bayern Munich, thinks that Saudi Arabia will play an even bigger role in the football world in the near future.
The former German international, who was at the helm of Bayern Munich between 2009 and 2014, has influence as honorary chairman on the course that Der Rekordmeister wants to set for the coming years. Hoeness regularly speaks with the current general manager Jan-Christian Dreesen, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (member of the supervisory board) and trainer Thomas Tuchel about the future of the club.
“We get together once a week to discuss all sorts of issues,” Hoeness told Sky. “The matters we discuss there remain within a small group. That’s better too. But the club has now calmed down again.”
On the day when Bayern clinched the German title in spectacular fashion at the expense of Borussia Dortmund, general manager Oliver Kahn and technical director Hasan Salihamidzic were sidelined. He continued, “Karl-Heinz and I have committed to helping the club until all important positions within the club are filled again.”
Hoeness expects Bayern and other top clubs on the transfer market to face increasing competition from Saudi Arabia. Where Karim Benzema has settled and Cristiano Ronaldo has been active for six months. “I am very concerned about what is yet to come from Saudi Arabia. They apparently have endless cash flows,” said Bayern’s honorary chairman.
