Sassuolo 1-1 AS Roma: Rick Karsdorp appears to have been dropped by AS Roma. The right-wing defender entered the game against Sassuolo on Wednesday evening and did not impress. Jose Mourinho, his coach, would have strongly punished him afterwards.
After the draw, the coach was enraged. He was bothered about a player, not because he had given up the win. “The team’s commitment was betrayed by a disrespectful player’s attitude. Everyone else was betrayed by him. A mistake is part of the game, but I had 16 players on the field and didn’t like one of them,” Mourinho stated during a press conference.
Sassuolo 1-1 AS Roma: Jose Mourinho lost it
According to Corriere dello Sport, it pertains to Karsdorp. “Karsdorp is the player who was disappointing because of his attitude. He came in but did not participate in the game. He lost duels, squandered crosses, and did not defend adequately on the wing,” the Italian outlet stated.
“After the game, Mourinho entered the locker room and allowed everyone of the personnel go,” the sports publication continued. Karsdorp would have taken the full brunt if he had been alone with his teammates. Mourinho talked aggressively to him and voiced his unhappiness with his performance on the field.”
The coach refused to divulge which player it was afterwards, but he did reveal the message he had given him. “I advised the player that he needed to find another team in January.”
Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi spoke to DAZN after the draw with Roma. “We are pleased with our performance, but we are disappointed with the outcome because we had a fantastic chance before their goal. I enjoyed the energy, and I hope today’s game teaches us which team we need to be in terms of mentality. Today, we did what we needed to do: we kicked more than Roma, and a goal came as a result of a good play. The boys earned it; those were delicate days, and we reverted to blunders that were common last year.”
