Roma and Milan dropped points last night against Monza and Cremonese respectively in 1-1 results. Meanwhile Inter Milan registered a monstrous 6-0 win on the road.
Hellas Verona 0-6 Inter Milan
Things looked good for Internazionale after a goal-rich duel and victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in Serie A on Wednesday. After half an hour nothing seemed to be wrong for the home team, but suddenly things went very fast.
Inter collected six goals and the match ended 0-6. 0-1 came after an own goal by Adolfo Gaich in the 31st minute. Hakan Çalhanoglu put Internazionale 2-0 in the 36th minute, on a pass from Marcelo Brozovic. One minute later, Edin Dzeko passed the goalkeeper and Internazionale increased the lead to 3-0.
Lautaro Martínez increased the margin for Internazionale in the 55th minute. Six minutes later, Internazionale increased the score to 5-0 as Dzeko made another pass for the goalkeeper, with an assist from Francesco Acerbi. The away team found the goal again through Martínez in the 92nd minute.
The Nerazzurri thundered into the top four, over Atalanta. It promises to be another hot fight for a spot in the Champions League.
AC Milan 1-1 Cremonese
AC Milan has badly hurt itself in that race for the Champions League places. In San Siro, the Rossoneri did not get further than 1-1 against Cremonese. After fifteen minutes, Milan seemed to open the score, but Alexis Saelemaekers turned out to have been offside after VAR deliberation. Cremonese, deep in the relegation zone, seemed to hold out for a long time and fifteen minutes before the end even beckoned the ultimate stunt.
Substitute David Okereke started a rush, ran through the entire defense and then also beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan: 0-1, a sensation. It was only after three minutes of stoppage time that something of satisfaction came. Junior Messias hit a free kick and robbed Cremonese of two very expensive points. For Milan, the 1-1 is still a heavy downer.
Monza 1-1 AS Roma
AS Roma also suffered an expensive loss of points towards the billion dollar ball. José Mourinho’s team did not get further than 1-1 at Monza on Wednesday evening. Home team Monza and Roma have each scored a point in their meeting in Serie A. The game ended 1-1.
Roma took the lead early in the game, when Stephan El Shaarawy scored after 24 minutes. Luca Caldirola leveled Monza in the 39th minute with an assist from Nicolò Rovella. The second half went goalless, so the match ended 1–1. Roma are now seventh in Serie A.
