Quadruple good news for Ten Hag towards return against Sevilla
Marcus Rashford showed his face again on Wednesday at the Manchester United training ground. The training session went so well that Rashford has also been included in the match selection for the duel with Sevilla. And there was more good news for manager Erik ten Hag towards Thursday night’s return in the Europa League quarter finals.
Rashford returns from a muscle injury from the league game with Everton
Rashford was still missing last week during the first leg at Old Trafford ( 2-2 ), because he sustained a muscle injury from the league game with Everton. Ten Hag then also had to miss his club top scorer in the away match against Nottingham Forest ( 0-2 ). In both matches, the fit Anthony Martial replaced the 25-year-old attacker.
With the return against Sevilla and the semi-final in the FA Cup tournament against Brighton & Hove Albion (Sunday) approaching, Rashford’s return is a boost for Ten Hag. The England international has already scored 27 times in all competitions this season, making him by far United’s main source of goals.
Luke Shaw also returns to the selection
There was more good news for Ten Hag, because Luke Shaw also returns to the selection. The English left back, who can also play in the center of the back, has been sidelined for the last three matches. Knowing that the season for Lisandro Martínez is over and that Harry Maguire is suspended against Brighton, Ten Hag can use a fit Shaw.
Tyrell Malacia and Marcel Sabitzer appeared in the training session
In addition, Tyrell Malacia and Marcel Sabitzer are also present again. The Dutch left back has been a basic player in recent weeks. But had to miss the competition match with Nottingham Forest. Sabitzer dropped out during the warm-up for that match and had to be replaced by Christian Eriksen as a precaution. With four fresh forces, Ten Hag can face the second game against Sevilla with some extra confidence.
