Arsene Wenger seemed regretful to see Serge Gnabry blossom just after leaving Arsenal.
Wenger was responsible for cultivating a number of young people during his last decade at Arsenal.
Back in 2012, Gnabry was one of the many talented youngsters who had moved to Arsenal, realizing that they would have time to play without the promise of trophies.
Gnabry could have been a Cesc Fabregas or more, as he seemed to have all the signs of a successful player.
However, the winger spent four disappointing seasons at the Emirates Stadium and then left for Werder Bremen in 2016.
The return to Germany seemed to benefit the youngster, who was soon voted Bayern’s Player of the Year after his transfer to the Allianz Arena.
Wenger also talked earlier about being very close to the signing of Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Yaya Toure.
But the real disappointment of the Frenchman stems from watching a player like Gnabry and not getting the best out of him. Wenger said:
“Let’s not forget Gnabry, I bought him at the age of 15 from Stuttgart and he was injured a lot. I was very sad that we couldn’t get over the line with him because I knew that he would have a great future. He can play No 10, he can be a No 9, he is a very intelligent player.”
