Former Inter and Chelsea coach Antonio Conte is one of the frontrunners to replace Mikel Arteta if Arsenal fire him. Indeed, according to some transfer rumours, Conte is the favourite to replace Arteta at Arsenal as their new head coach.
Arteta’s situation was already tense following last season, but it became even more so after losing the Premier League opener. They lost an away football match to newly-promoted Brentford by 2-0.
And thus, talks of replacing him have now intensified.
Transfer Rumours – Conte Is the Favourite to Replace Arteta at Arsenal
The Sun says Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is the favourite, but Antonio Conte, out of work, is close behind.
Conte won the Scudetto with Inter after a 10-year wait. However, his contract was mutually terminated due to concerns about their transfer strategy.
But, as it turns out, his concerns realized themselves as true when Inter sold stars Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku. The two moved to PSG and Chelsea (the football news), respectively.
If Arsenal buy the recent Scudetto-winner, Conte would be returning to London, where he won the Premier League with Chelsea.
He had also been in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the summer. But because he wanted the club to spend big to match his ambitions, Nune Espirito Santo got the job instead.
Meanwhile, as part of his contract termination, Inter cannot permit Conte to take charge of another Italian club this season.
