Mason Mount has reached personal terms with Manchester United according to reports. The Chelsea midfielder still has thirteen months left in his contract in London and Erik ten Hag would like to take him over.
Man Utd agree personal terms with Chelsea superstar
Mount made 24 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, starting 20 of them. The midfielder is in the strong interest of Manchester United and, according to The Telegraph, he has even reached a personal agreement with that club. It was previously announced that Mount is certainly open to a departure for Manchester.
The agreement between Mount and Ten Hag’s club means that only the clubs still have to make an agreement. The 24-year-old Englishman comes from the youth academy of Chelsea and has played almost two hundred games in the first team to date, in which he scored 33 times. He spent a year on loan at Derby County in the 2018/19 season. The season before that he played in Arnhem.
After the extremely disappointing twelfth place in the league, the big rebuild at Chelsea has started. The Telegraph also reports that Mateo Kovacic is on his way to Manchester City. His contract also expires in London in mid-2024.
Hopeless situation for Fosu-Mensah at Leverkusen
Speaking of United, their former employee, Timothy Fosu-Mensah time playing for Bayer Leverkusen might come to an end. The defender is in a hopeless situation because trainer Xabi Alonso does not see it in him. That’s what Kicker writes.
According to the German medium, Fosu-Mensah must arrange a new club for next season, because Leverkusen coach Alonso does not intend to use him often. The fact that Alonso recently did not opt for Fosu-Mensah despite the absence of defenders Odilon Kossounou and Piero Hincapie, but instead changed his system, was writing on the wall. BILD also recently wrote that Fosu-Mensah is on the list to leave.
Fosu-Mensah played just eleven games for Leverkusen this season. He also barely played in recent seasons, but that was mainly due to injuries. Fosu-Mensah was sidelined for almost a year and a half due to a cruciate ligament and hamstring injury. Fosu-Mensah is stuck in Germany for one more year, but seems to have to leave to maintain chances of playing time.
Leverkusen took over Fosu-Mensah from Manchester United in January 2021 for just under two million euros. The club loaned out the defender to Crystal Palace and Fulham. Fosu-Mensah comes from the youth of Ajax.
