Samir Handanovic, now captain at Inter, arrived at Inter in July 2012, but during his time in Milan he still has to pick up a trophy. Now, with his ambition having always directed toward winning titles, he wants to change this.
“I always aimed to play for trophies when I arrived,” Handanovic told a press conference. “I have wanted to win from day one.”
Handanovic says Inter ‘are united’ ahead of the Europa League Final against Seville and are ready to ‘sacrifice’ to win the trophy themselves.
“As a group, we stand united. The wins helped us grow and gave us consciousness,” he said. “We want to fix mistakes and we’ve made a lot of improvements.
“There is a desire to sacrifice ourselves, we know how to win games and we understand that.
“We have made headway. The Group has been strong, solid and compact since the beginning of the year.”
And winning the big match of this league must be ‘a starting point’ for the Nerazzurri, claimed The Slovenia international:
“We can finally fight for something important, that has to be a starting point.
“It has to become a habit, just like it was 10 to 15 years ago. Inter always played for cups and the Scudetto.
“We have now reached the point where we can play for something important and today, I am proud to be here.”
