Inter Milan took on Juventus at the San Siro stadium yesterday when both teams were looking for 3 points. But, among other of last night’s Serie A football results, Inter and Juventus dismally drew 1-1 at Inter’s home instead.
Though they secured one point yesterday, the ‘Bianconeri’ are still 10 points behind Serie A leaders Napoli. After all, they only have 15 points after 9 fixtures.
Inter, meanwhile, are placing third in the standings. It seems that they are yet continuing to settle into life with their new boss Simone Inzaghi in charge.
Serie A Football Results – Inter and Juventus Dismally Drew 1-1
In the opening stages of this football match, both teams’ players played at a frantic pace.
Juventus failed to score when Samir Handanović couldn’t gather Álvaro Morata’s fierce shot, and Alex Sandro couldn’t turn the rebound.
Ten minutes later, the hosts took the lead anyway. Hakan Calhanoglu’s deflected ball bounced back from the woodwork right to Edin Dzeko’s feet. And the Bosnian striker made no mistake to open the score.
In further bad luck for Juventus, Federico Bernardeschi left the pitch earlier than he planned due to a shoulder injury. This definitely didn’t help to give the guests some extra confidence.
They could only muster long-range efforts from Dejan Kulusevski and Juan Cuadrado. In fact, the Colombian came closest to scoring a goal with his long-distance effort going wide of Handanovic’s post.
As the tempo of the game dropped, Massimiliano Allegri soon looked to his Juventus bench to change the match’s pace.
The returning Paulo Dybala and Federico Chiesa were the obvious options among his substitutes.
Allegri then indeed did introduce the duo with 25 minutes remaining on the clock.
And with both skilled men on the pitch, Juventus almost immediately showed a fluency and creativity that was previously lacking.
Dybala fired in a free-kick that forced the Inter’s goalie into a save. Further, it would later be the 27-year-old Argentine who would grab a point for the visitors.
With two minutes of normal time left, Denzel Dumfries caught Alex Sandro just inside the box. And that was when Dybala coolly converted the penalty – 18th of his previous 20 attempts.
Despite the motivational late strike, though, Juve could only secure one single point from a 1-1 tie with hosts Inter.
