Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as Tottenham’s manager. According to the authoritative British media, the Premier League club has reached an agreement with Ange Postecoglou, who comes over from Celtic.
Tottenham finally has a bite: agreement with new manager
This brings an end to a long search by Spurs. It started when Antonio Conte retired on March 26. Tottenham then finished the season with interim trainers. First, Cristian Stellini was put in front of the group, but he also could not please the club management. In the end, young Ryan Mason (31) finished the season.
It was clear that chairman Daniel Levy was now looking hard for a new trainer to go into the future with. In that search countless names passed by, from Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique to Arne Slot. The Dutchman was a serious candidate in North London, but eventually decided to sign with Feyenoord.
Postecoglou has been at the helm of Celtic since the summer of 2021. With that club he won the national title twice and the League Cup twice. This season he even won the domestic treble. The 57-year-old Australian with Greek roots previously worked for Yokohama F. Marinos, Melbourne Victory, Brisbane Roar FC and the Australian national team.
Four year contract signed
Tottenham Hotspur appointed the permanent successor for Antonio Conte on Tuesday. Ange Postecoglou comes over from Celtic and has signed a contract for four seasons. With him, the club is on the hunt for the first prize in fifteen years.
An agreement was eventually reached with Celtic on the transfer fee and that means that Postecoglou will be the new manager of Tottenham. He is the first Australian to work as a manager in the Premier League.
To Postecoglou to bring color to Tottenham’s cheeks again. The club is yearning for the first prize in fifteen years (the League Cup was won in 2008) and did not even qualify for European football this season. It is clear that Tottenham fans are not satisfied with the current performance. And whether Postecoglou will enter the new season with Harry Kane remains to be seen. Although he himself indicated that he is more motivated than ever to win trophies with Tottenham, he is being pulled by top clubs.
“Ange brings a positive mindset and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and understands the importance of educating youth. That is important for our club. We are delighted to have been able to sign Ange as we prepare for the upcoming season,” said chairman Daniel Levy.
