The rumors surrounding a possible transfer of André Onana to Chelsea from Internazionale are becoming increasingly persistent. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, both parties will meet this week.
Chelsea has a means of exchange to loosen Onana at Inter
Chelsea would have an important trump card in the negotiations. Kepa Arrizabalaga should be allowed to move in the other direction with the arrival of Onana. The Spaniard pushed Edouard Mendy under the bar in London this season. But Onana would be the dream keeper for next season.
Inter would reportedly initially want forty million euros for Onana, who came over from Ajax on a free transfer last summer and in turn passed Samir Handanovic in Milan. With fifteen clean sheets in 33 appearances across all competitions, Onana made a big impression with the Nerazzurri in his first season.
In the meantime, Inter is said to be looking further into possible options for Onana’s replacement. In addition, the eye would have fallen on Guglielmo Vicario, who is having a strong season at Empoli.
Potential Man Utd owner Ratcliffe offers Glazer family extra way out
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is in the running to become the new owner of Manchester United, has a deal on the table that will see the Glazer family retain some influence. The current owners have put the club up for sale, but may therefore remain involved with the English top club.
Ratcliffe, along with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, appear to be the top candidate to take over Man Utd, but the offer from both sides is not what the Glazers had in mind, according to sources in England. The family would only like to sell the club for more than six billion euros.
With a different kind of deal, Ratcliffe could still do business for a lower amount. According to the Daily Mail, which appeared to be well established throughout this takeover procedure, the wealthy businessman has offered that Avram and Joel Glazer can remain involved in the club as shareholders. It would then be a minority share, Ratcliffe would own the largest part of the share package.
Unlike Ratcliffe, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani does not intend to compromise. He wants to get full control of the club, but will therefore have to dig deep into his pockets. He is reportedly submitting his final bid on Friday.
