Dani Alves is going to meet with Barcelona’s top executives in January to discuss a possible comeback to the club. So, among other shocking Camp Nou football transfer news, Dani Alves may make a shock football transfer back to Barcelona.
The 38-year-old has not yet retired, but he last departed Sao Paulo in September amid an unpaid image rights dispute.
Meanwhile, Alves departed Barça in 2016, but the club has struggled to fully replace him since then.
As such, since Alves’ departure, Sergi Roberto has frequently filled in at right-back for Barcelona. And as for backup, Sergino Dest and Oscar Mingueza have also played in that position recently. But none of these options fit so well at right-back as Dani Alves did, and may again, at Camp Nou.

UOL expect Brazilian Dani Alves to sign a contract with the La Liga giants in the coming days.
According to Spanish publication AS, Sergino Dest could actually benefit from the move. After all, what better possible mentor can the young American learn from than Alves.
Xavi, the new Barça manager, would also have to approve the transfer.
The two were teammates for the Catalan side during their more successful years. In fact, they were frequently winning league titles and fighting for the Champions League.
President Joan Laporta recently commented on the possibility of a return for Alves, as well.
“Dani Alves is helping the club in many ways, and he also offered us his help on a sporting perspective. With [Carles] Puyol there is a very direct relationship. They can help if Xavi needs them,” the Barcelona chairman stated.
Now, it seems, both sides will consider the salary and term of the contract.
Also, Alves will be aiming for a World Cup swan song with Brazil in 2022. He continues to play for the Selecao, most recently in a 2-0 World Cup qualification win over Peru in September. After making his debut in 2006, he now has 119 caps for his country.
Meanwhile, Xavi’s first game as the Barcelona head coach will be the local derby against Espanyol after the international break.
