Dortmund 6-0 Wolfsburg: Borussia Dortmund has increased the pressure on leader Bayern Munich again with a 6-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg. There are still three games to play in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund has an afternoon to lick your fingers
Bayern is in pole position with three games to go to win the 32nd national title, although the difference with Dortmund is only one point and the title fight therefore remains exciting.
The potential banana peel was skillfully avoided, because Dortmund didn’t waste any time against Wolfsburg on Sunday. A long ball from Emre Can over fifty yards found the up-and-coming Julian Ryerson, who headed in for Karim Adeyemi, who scored his fifth goal of the season and then served the scoring Sébastien Haller. Before the break it was Donyell Malen’s turn and after 37 minutes it was already 3-0 for the home team.
Second half
For Wolfsburg, which is still competing for Europa League football, it ended up being a disaster afternoon. The much-discussed Jude Bellingham, according to Spanish media, well on his way to Real Madrid, shot 4-0 from about 25 meters, although he received some help from Koen Casteels. The goalkeeper unfortunately saw the ball land over the line. Adeyemi, the man of the match, then signed for 5-0 on a pass from Haller.
Adeyemi could have given his match some extra shine by shooting in the 6-0 from eleven meters, but that was too much to ask. Bellingham did just before time.
Werder Bremen 1-2 Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich won the away match against Werder Bremen on Saturday. The game in the Bundesliga ended in 1-2. No goals were scored before the break and it was not until the 62nd minute that Serge Gnabry scored to give Bayern Munich the lead. Leroy Sané extended the margin further in the 72nd minute with an assist from Noussair Mazraoui. The goal that narrowed the margin to 2-1 for Werder Bremen was scored by Niklas Schmidt, on a pass from Milos Veljkovic.
In the last five games, Werder Bremen have won once, drawn once and lost thrice. While Bayern Munich have three wins, one draw and one defeat. This was Werder Bremen’s tenth one-goal defeat this season. This was also Bayern Munich’s fourth victory by one goal.
With three rounds to go. Werder Bremen is in twelfth place in the ranking while Bayern Munich are at the top of the ranking. The next match day, Werder Bremen will play at RB Leipzig on Sunday, May 14. Bayern Munich will receive Schalke 04 on Saturday, May 13.
