Bayer Leverkusen signs Brazilian international Arthur
Bayer Leverkusen has presented the first reinforcements for next season. The brand new Brazilian international Arthur comes over from América Mineiro and must succeed Jeremie Frimpong at the Bundesliga club.
According to Kicker, Leverkusen is covering himself with the arrival of Arthur for a possible departure of Frimpong and Timothy Fosu-Mensah. The former is associated with Barcelona and Manchester United due to his excellent performances, while according to German media it is not excluded that Fosu-Mensah will also leave in the search for more playing time.
Technical director Simon Rolfes is convinced that Arthur can become an important player for Leverkusen in the medium term. The twenty-year-old right back recently made his debut for Brazil in the exhibition game with Morocco, in which he came in just before time. Arthur reportedly costs six million euros and signs a contract until mid-2028.
With his speed and agility, Rolfes expects Arthur to be able to handle the system of trainer Xabi Alonso, who has Leverkusen play in a 3-4-3 formation with attacking wing backs. In that role, Frimpong was already good for eight goals and nine assists this season, despite the fact that national coach Ronald Koeman did not call him up.
Tuchel sees Chelsea successor again give way and refuses advice to Nagelsmann
Staying in Bundesliga, Thomas Tuchel responded to the situation at his previous employer Chelsea on Monday. Earlier this season, the German was fired as manager of The Blues, but his successor Graham Potter had to leave the field again. And the possible successor is also a striking choice.
“I got a push notification yesterday, then I saw that Potter had been fired,” Tuchel told the German press. The brand new trainer of Bayern Munich feels little emotion with the wandering Chelsea. “Initially it took a long time before I could give my resignation a place. I really loved working there. I made friends for life and enjoyed the intense period,” he added.
“But the club has changed so much now that I can’t worry about it,” Tuchel continued. And promptly Julian Nagelsmann is named as Potter’s replacement. Nota bene the coach who was exchanged for Tuchel in Munich. Nagelsmann does not need to obtain information from Tuchel. “Julian doesn’t need to ask me for advice, no. Why not? Because the club has changed so enormously in recent months that it is of no use to him,” he adds.
Last weekend, Tuchel kickstarted his role in southern Germany. Leader Borussia Dortmund was defeated (4-2), so that Bayern took over the lead. The coach now wants more: “Now the title race has started. We’re going to need every player. Last week I had to make choices after a day and a half of training. That’s tough, but I have to manage that. I decide who will play for each match. We want to win prizes.”
