Dembele’s criticism by the press
Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembélé delivered such a poor performance in the World Cup final. That according to L’Équipe, he did not deserve a rating.
For Dembele, the final was already over before the break. Together with Olivier Giroud, the Barcelona attacker was victimized by national coach Didier Deschamps. Who felt compelled to intervene after the 2-0 deficit.
His forty minutes were unworthy of a figure, L’Equipe wrote in the report of the French team of the World Cup final about Dembélé. Causing the penalty kick did not contribute positively to the attacker’s assessment.
“Defensively, he too often lost sight of his direct opponents. And offensively he played all the balls in the feet of an Argentinian,” was the merciless judgment of L’Équipe.
