A date has been set for the next hearing in the case against Juventus. ANSA, Italy’s largest news agency, reports that the Federal Court of Appeals will meet on May 22 to discuss the prosecutor’s appeal. As a result, Juventus still has to fear a points penalty in the current season and therefore also participation in the Champions League.
Juventus still have to fear a points penalty and miss out on the Champions League
The prosecutor’s case against Juventus was fought in several stages. The case was initially rejected by the judge, but after the prosecutor had bundled several financial offenses into one case, things moved quickly. On 20 January, Juventus received a 15-point penalty.
Three months later, Juventus’ appeal proved successful and the club regained the fifteen points it had lost. It ensured that Juventus immediately returned to the top of Serie A and therefore had full prospects of participating in the next edition of the Champions League.
With the favorable verdict for Juventus, it immediately became clear that the prosecutor in turn could file an appeal. This has now happened and so Juventus will have to fear this season that there will still be a points penalty. It was not clear at first whether the court could pick up the case before the end of the season, but this is the case.
Juventus are currently second in Italy, five points ahead of number five AC Milan. If (many) points are again deducted at Juventus, the club can therefore miss out on participation in the Champions League.
Incidentally, UEFA is also already preparing to keep Juventus off the European stage, with the evidence of the professional football prosecutor as the basis of its own investigation. This investigation would have opened the European Union in case a decision in this case was delayed.
Napoli fan goes very far to celebrate the championship
Napoli fans are ecstatic after winning their first championship in 33 years. Some take to the streets, some drink a beer and some… well, they celebrate in a completely different way.
Flightradar24 faithfully tracks flight data around the world every day. On Tuesday they encountered a very special flight map. The Tecnam P-2008JC had made a short flight of just under two hours. And the route traveled is very reminiscent of the Napoli logo. It is probably no coincidence that the device has been darting just above the city of Naples. Certainly an original way to celebrate the championship of your favorite club.
Napoli became champion of Italy again on Sunday with a narrow victory over Fiorentina. With four games to go, Luciano Spalletti’s team can no longer be traced. As a result, a true folk festival unfolded in Naples and the surrounding area.
