AS Roma 1-0 Juventus: AS Roma recovered on Sunday from the blistering defeat it suffered last week at last week’s Cremonese. Jose Mourinho’s team won 1-0 against Juventus. Earlier on Sunday, Denzel Dumfries was important for the victorious Internazionale with an assist.
Georginio Wijnaldum made his basic return to Roma last week and was also allowed to start again against Juventus by José Mourinho. The coach was sent to the stands to visit Cremonese, but because the investigation into the red card had not yet been completed, Mourinho was allowed to sit on the bench on Sunday. Rick Karsdorp also took place there.
The two undoubtedly enjoyed the atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico, but not the football in the first half. Before the break there was only one significant chance to note: that was for Juventus, for Adrian Rabiot. The midfielder seemed to give Juventus the lead just before the break, but Roma goalkeeper Rui Patrício still managed to push the ball against the post.
Eight minutes into the second half, Gianluca Mancini broke open the game. His power from just outside the penalty area was not sustainable for Wojciech Szczesny.
Juventus had to chase and hit the aluminum twice more in the remainder: first via a free kick from Juan Cuadrado, then via a confusing situation after a corner kick. The equalizer was not in it and so the points remained in Rome. Karsdorp participated as a substitute for half an hour, while Wijnaldum played until fifteen minutes before the end. Moise Kean only played sixty seconds at Juventus. He came on as a substitute and was sent off in the same minute for foul kicks.
Inter Milan 2-0 Lecce
Thanks to the victory, Roma climbs to fourth place in Serie A. Mourinho’s team has the same number of points as AC Milan, but a better goal difference. Juventus are eighth and are twelve points behind Champions League football for the next football year.
Dumfries has recently been criticized by Inter supporters, but proved his worth to the team on Sunday. With an assist on Lautaro Martínez’s 2-0 win against US Lecce. Martínez then behaved like a true captain, visiting his criticized teammate and visibly giving him all the credits.
