Lalrinliana Hnamte is an 18 year old midfielder from the North East Indian state of Mizoram. He first burst onto the scene in 2018, when he joined the Pune City FC U-18 team. In the same season, he took part in the Hero I-League U-18.
He would then go on to play for the Hyderabad FC reserves team, with whom he continued to train and compete until 2021.
Hnamte signed for East Bengal at the start of the Indian Super League 2021/22 season. The midfielder went on to have a break out season at the Kolkata based outfit. Making 17 appearances, finding the back of the net once during the period. Out of those 18 league matches, the club competed in the season, Lalrinliana made an appearance in 15 of them.
Following such an impressive season for a teenager. East Bengal’s cross town-rivals, ATK Mohun Bagan were reported to be interested considering his performances and potential.
In the latest news, we now hear that the Mariners have made the move for Lalrinliana Hnamte. A pre contract for two years is said to be signed between the club and the player, the confirmation has been made through the club’s official Twitter account.
