Georginio Wijnaldum wants a return to Liverpool after falling out of favour at PSG, following his move as a free agent only a season.
Following the disappointing exit from the Champions League PSG players have been treated rather harshly by the Paris faithful displaying their disappointment. The ultras have demanded Nasser al-Khelaifi and Leonardo to step down.
Furthermore, in all honesty, the midfielder has failed to impress in Paris, the way he did at Anfield under Mauricio Pochettino.
Wijnaldum said in October that he was “not completely happy” at PSG as he struggled for playing time, something that has not improved over the course of the season.
He told Dutch news outlet NOS: “I can’t say I’m completely happy, because the situation is not what I wanted.
“But that’s football and I’ll have to learn to deal with that. I’m a fighter. I have to stay positive and work hard to turn it around.
“I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult.”
However, following the embarrassment at the UCL, the club is looking for a rebuild this summer. And with both Wijnaldum and his manager acknowledging that it’s a move that hasn’t worked out for both parties. PSG are likely to cut their losses in the upcoming window, according to L’Equipe, via Sport Witness.
It is said that the Dutch International’s transfer value in England is still high and his former club are open to a reunion.
Before he left for Parc des Princes he had revealed that he would love to return to Merseyside; one day as a supporter which shows he clearly still holds the club in high regard.
“If it’s possible, I would love to come back,” he said before his final game for the club. “The feeling I have, the feeling my family has with this club, is only good things.
“I hope that it would be possible that I come back to watch a game. And support Liverpool because I will be a Liverpool supporter for life.”
