Paolo Maldini underwent surgery to remove kidney stones on Wednesday and was thus absent from training in Milan, it’s reported.
On Wednesday, Ivan Gazidis held a meeting with the Milan squad, without Maldini. MilanNews.it writes that this was because the technical director was undergoing ‘minor surgery’ to treat kidney stones.
Maldini, AC Milan and Italy legend, who turns 52 in a few weeks, was also diagnosed with coronavirus back in March but has made a full recovery ever since.
He is the second Italian legend after Alessandro Del Piero to suffer from kidney stones in the space of one month.
The website adds that he was nonetheless present yesterday to watch players from the Rossoneri finish their preparations for the semi-final second leg of the Coppa Italia against Juventus today.
