Neymar will not play again for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 as the Brazilian forward is officially on the sidelines. And he will certainly remain thus for at least up to six weeks with an ankle injury.
Paris Saint-Germain had recovered from falling a goal down away at Saint-Etienne to lead 2-1 heading into the closing stages.
And Mauricio Pochettino’s side would even go on to grab a third goal in stoppage-time, but at a terrible cost.
There were just two minutes left when Neymar, a 2021 Ballon d’Or contender, sought to escape his marker’s stronghold.
When leaping over a challenge, Brazil international Neymar accidently planted his foot onto the outstretched leg of Yvann Macon.
This led to his ankle turning over which made Neymar scream out in agony and immediately beckon for medical assistance.
Later, we saw Neymar leaving Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on crutches (the football news).
Such a severe sight immediately sparked concerns that he’d be absent for a prolonged period of time.
PSG coach Pochettino told reporters afterwards: “Of course we are worried, but we hope that it is nothing too serious and that he can come back to help the team as soon as possible.”

So, Neymar had to leave the field on a stretcher after landing awkwardly during the Ligue 1 clash with Saint-Etienne.
Then, reports in France quickly suggested that the 29-year-old South American superstar would likely need until early January to recover.
And now, as it turns out, these rumours were right – Neymar will be wholly missing out for PSG this year.
Neymar has posted about his ailment on social media: “Unfortunately, these setbacks are a part of an athlete’s life. Now you have to raise your head and move on. I will come back better and stronger.”
