Each of the Serie A clubs utilized shirts featuring anti-racism signs to promote the Black Lives Matter movement. Milan and Juventus joined their ranks.
Milan and Juventus together stood up against racism by wearing custom jerseys on Friday night, before their semi-final match in the second leg of Coppa Italia.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala were seen in Juventus’ training shirts that had ‘NO RACISM’ emblazoned in block capitals on the back.
On the other hand, Milan’s was a simple black shirt with a slogan of ‘Black Lives Matter’ below the club’s logo.
This gesture is especially relevant because in this season there has been a spate of racial incidents in Italian football, with Romelu Lukaku and Mario Balotelli among the many players reported for racial violence.
