Samir Handanovic insists that 3-2 Europa League Final losing to Sevilla is just a starting point and Inter will hope to play more of those games in the future.
“Great disappointment, but we need to move on. This is a starting point as I said yesterday and we hope to play many more of those games,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.
“Next season we will expand on the strong foundations. Sevilla has proven itself to be really hard to defeat again so we will learn from the experience.”
When asked about the match itself, and how they came to lose, Handanovic said: “It would be easy to point out various things that went wrong because with Lukaku we had a huge opportunity and it should have been a different result.”
“We were two teams who were really open and on the offensive. In the second half we could have kept the ball longer, because I feel they were more exhausted and we had more fuel in the tank,” added Handanovic.
“The third goal was unlucky because it went high and it only reached the foot of Romelu and it was poor luck and eventually defined the match.”
