Regardless of his relationship with Sinisa Mihajlovic, Bologna director Riccardo Bigon says Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ‘not an option’ for the club.
The club had negotiations taking place with Ibrahimovic before he chose Milan as a free agent in January, tempted by the chance to work at Stadio Dall’Ara with coach Mihajlovic.
Now that there are several rumours the Swede is able to walk away from the Rossoneri, it has resurrected the concept of Bologna and another Serie A story.
For Ibrahimovic, the most likely outcome will be to end his career at Hammarby, the Swedish club he co-owns.
During the lockdown, he was training with the squad in Sweden for the time.
“I understand the media interest in making this a story, as he is such an important name at the top level, but Ibrahimovic is not a possibility,” Bologna director of sport Bigon told RAI Radio 1. “We are no longer in contact. He had spoken to Mihajlovic in Winter, then made his choices and from then we haven’t taken the situation into consideration.”
