For the first time since selling AC Milan, Silvio Berlusconi is looking for a return to the top table of Italian football, after its new team Monza was promoted to Serie B on Monday.
“Monza will create a squad ready to go to the top of Serie B” were Berlusconi’s words, as quoted by local newspaper Il Cittadino.
Monza was one of three clubs that moved up to second tier alongside Vicenza and Reggina following Monday ’s decision by the Italian Football Federation to end the regular Serie C season and promote the top team from each of the three groups in the division
“Promotion to Serie A will vary depending on a number of factors, some of which are unpredictable, but we know some very well and we will try to get the most out of it.”
Previously, Berlusconi had owned AC Milan for more than 30 years and the team won five European Cups and eight Serie A titles.
