Bayer Leverkusen says goodbye to Daley Sinkgraven and Callum Hudson-Odoi after this season. The left back’s contract expires and will not be renewed. Sinkgraven was put in the spotlight before the duel with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Leverkusen says goodbye to almost transfer-free Sinkgraven
It is not very surprising that Sinkgraven leaves. The 27-year-old midfielder-cum-defender missed many matches due to injuries and has never been a permanent fixture at Leverkusen. He played 12 games this season, eight of which came on as a substitute. Sinkgraven is in his fourth season in the Bundesliga and has played 59 games in the Bundesliga so far. It is not yet known where Sinkgraven’s future lies.
Leverkusen also said goodbye to Andrey Lunev, Ayman Azhil and Callum Hudson-Odoi before the game against Gladbach. The latter returns to Chelsea, where his contract will run until the summer of 2024. Lunev and Azhil, a former mercenary from RKC Waalwijk, also have expiring contracts.
Dortmund already in ecstasy: “You can’t buy this moment”
Staying in the Bundesliga, at Borussia Dortmund they realize it: next week the first national title in eleven years can be taken. One more win is needed for that.
Due to Bayern Munich’s slip against RB Leipzig, Dortmund knew what had to be done at FC Augsburg. Sébastien Haller scored twice and Julian Brandt once to make it 0-3. The title can be taken next week against FSV Mainz 05. “If someone had told me six months ago that I would be in this situation, I would not have believed it,” said Haller afterwards. “This is a great opportunity, we have invested a lot and now we can achieve something great.”
The partying makes it seem as if Dortmund has already won the title, but trainer Edin Terzic steps on the brakes. He said, “This year we are very close. We have to sleep six more times, wake up once, give everything and then hopefully we can finally hold the cup in our hands. The season is over in seven days, then the boys can buy anything they want: the next car, the next house, the next vacation…. But you can’t buy this moment. We worked hard for it and suffered a lot.”
