1st half
Spain started the game better and wanted to pick up where they left off in the last encounter. Asensio had his first chance after just a few minutes. In the 7th minute, Dani Olmo almost took the lead. However, Neuer was able to deflect the strong shot and the ball only hit the crossbar and the post. Lucky for Germany. In the 10th minute, Gnabry was able to create the first opportunity for the Germans, but was just offside. In the 22nd minute the coordination in Germany’s defense was not right and Jordi Alba had a great opportunity and just missed it.
Germany played very well and was able to play better and better over time. In the 25th minute, Gnabry was able to score the first shot on goal. From the game, however, Germany struggled and could not cause much danger. In the 40th minute, Rüdiger was able to head the ball into the goal from Kimmich’s cross. However, he was just offside and the goal was disallowed. There were no further chances in the first half and so it was a 0:0 draw at halftime. Germany was able to keep up and almost even took the lead.
2nd half
Germany wanted to win this game and that’s how the team came out of the dressing room. Musiala and Müller had chances in the 46th and 47th minute. The second half started promising for Germany. Kimmich couldn’t take advantage of a big opportunity in the 56th minute and that’s how it happens when you don’t take advantage of your opportunities. Substitute Alvaro Morata scored in the 62nd minute to give the Spaniards the lead. Jordi Alba’s low cross from the left could be pushed over the line in true striker fashion and it was already 1-0 for the Germans.
Asensio almost got the decider in the 65th minute, but the game was still open. After that, Hansi Flick switched on 3 new players and was able to bring new impetus to the encounter. In the 73rd minute, first Füllkrug failed, followed by the young talent Musiala because of the excellent goalkeeper Unai Simon. Germany was able to keep up the pressure and were rewarded for the effort in the 83rd minute. The substitute filling jug was able to provide the deserved compensation with a full shot. In the last minute of stoppage time, Sanestill a big chance for the win but dribbled and missed the opportunity. So it ended with a Spain 1-1 Germany.
