Burnley 2023–24 season squad
Anderlecht’s Bart Verbruggen for the longest time remained Burnley’s major transfer target. However, with his move to Brighton it would be interesting who they would try to bring in between the sticks. James Trafford of Manchester City is being linked with the club. Jean Butez from Belgian League’s Royal Antwerp could prove to be another option for the club.
Viktor Gyökeres is a striker that is being linked with the club. Georges Mikautadze of FC Matz is another striker that is being scouted with the club. Strasbourg’s Habib Diallo, also from Ligue 1 is also in the club’s radar.
In terms of centre-backs Soumaïla Coulibaly of Borussia Dortmund is being widely linked to the club. Norwich City’s Andrew Omobamidele could prove to be an alternative locally. The versatile Sergio Gómez is also being looked at by the club.
Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga might prove to be Burnley’s major signing in the middle of the park. Cheaper options for the club might include Jack Clarke of Sunderland, Bristol City’s Han-Noah Massengo and Ryan Kent of Rangers.
Dara O’Shea from West Bromwich Albion, goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux from Chile and Leyton Orient, centre-back Jordan Beyer from Germany’s Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Michael Obafemi from the Republic of Ireland who played for Swansea City as a forward are the incomings for the season at the time of writing.
Finlay Armstrong, Ashley Barnes, Trevon Bryan, Jacson Coppack, Frankie Deane, Jacob Hamilton, Nathan James, Lukas Jensen, Matthew Lowton, Dane McCullough, Joe McGlynn, Will Norris, Tosin Olopade, Kade Ratchford, Deji Sotona, Lewis Thomas, Seb Thompson, Ne-Jai Tucker, and Keelan Williams were all released by the club at the end of last season.

The Clarets did an amazing job getting right back into the Premier League after a title winning campaign. However, as in the case of any newly promoted club, survival should be the primary task for the club. While I do see them pulling it off, it is certainly not a given.
