Aaron Ramsey may be one of the first victims of COVID-19 recession, the Daily Mail reports. This is because Juventus are open to selling the Wales player to balance their books.
With football clubs across Europe having to look at their finances in a different light ahead of months of playing without fans, there is an increasingly urgent need for Juventus also to cut their vast payroll.
One issue for Juventus is the huge wage Ramsey expects to receive. Having joined on a free transfer, the player has a deal that brings him an impressive £400,000 a week until the summer of 2023.
The team looks to pass him out and that may be prohibitive.
In fact, two major British clubs were alerted to the availability of Ramsey this week ahead of the summer transfer period scheduled to open at the back end of the month.
Clubs like Manchester United in England would definitely have an interest on him, but again, not with that salary.
That means either Ramsey would have to take a cut or move somewhere on loan with Juventus still paying at least some of his wage.
