EPL – Burnley vs. Manchester City: Prediction
Turf Moor has been a very difficult venue to get a win for any team. The hosts’ narrow loss against Liverpool was their only loss at home in the league between October to February. With that being said, they have lost back to back games by a distance against quality teams. So they are unlikely to take three points against the league leaders.
However, the citizens have won by a margin of more than a goal just once in their last six away league matches. Therefore, I have backed Burnley with an Asian handicap.
The Clarets have failed to score before halftime in their last seven home league matches. Tier opponents have failed to score in four of their previous five away EPL fixtures. Therefore, I have backed a goalless first half.

Pre-match conference
Burnley manager, Sean Dyche: “It’s a big challenge against City and the superpowers as I call them. They’re a fine side without a doubt – technical prowess, tactical understanding, pace, and all the rest of it – but we’ve beaten these sides in the past.
“You’ve got to try and get points from everywhere. [Last season], we went to Liverpool and won when no one fancied us, we beat Arsenal at their place, we’ve beaten City in the past too, so it’s achievable but it’s just tougher than the rest.
“Our mentality has to be firm, we have to go into the game believing in what we do, and we have to embrace the challenge then get ready for the next one after that.
“It’s very difficult and don’t get me wrong, I don’t think our season is going to be made on this game, but it’s helpful if you can get a result of some kind.”
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola: “We have still nine games to play. We will go game by game. We know what we have to do. We have to win games. It will be difficult, but we try. Ruben [Dias] and Cole Palmer are out. The rest are fit. He is out. I don’t know. The doctor said for four to six weeks. We need 10 days or two weeks more. The plan depends on the players when I saw them for the training today and yesterday.
“We have a lot of games. Eight potential nine games. The selection is not for the next game. People come back from the national teams. It’s not the first time we face it. So far we have done incredibly well.”
