Andre Onana is not for sale. Through CEO Beppe Marotta, Internazionale says that the goalkeeper from Cameroon may not leave under any circumstances. Chelsea is mentioned as an interested club in English media.
Internazionale clear about future wanted Onana
Onana had a difficult start at Inter, but is now a fixed value under the bar. In this Champions League season, the former goalkeeper of Ajax managed to keep a clean sheet no less than seven times: a club record. His development has been noticed by big clubs from other countries, Chelsea would be willing to pay forty million euros for him, but as far as Inter is concerned, a transfer is not negotiable.
“It’s hard to predict the future, but we haven’t had any offers and he wants to stay here. We don’t intend to sell it. I can rule that out,” Marotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport. Onana’s contract with Inter runs until the summer of 2027. Next week he will play the second semi-final of the Champions League against AC Milan.
Onana is not the only player linked to a departure from Inter. Denzel Dumfries, who is still committed until 2025, is reportedly in the interest of Premier League clubs, while Stefan de Vrij and Edin Dzeko are on a free transfer after this season. They may still sign up. Milan Skriniar, recovering from an injury, seems to be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain. It is not yet clear what will happen to reserve goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
Another blow for Milan: Unlucky Bennacer will be sidelined for a long time
Ismaël Bennacer has to miss the return against Internazionale in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Several sources report that the 25-year-old midfielder of AC Milan has to undergo surgery because of his knee injury.
A dream fell apart for Bennacer in the first game against Inter in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Instead of shining, he was injured in the eighteenth minute at a 0-2 score. The Algerian was replaced by Junior Messiah.
Research has shown that the damage to the midfielder’s right knee is considerable. Both Tutto Mercato Web and CalcioMercato report that Bennacer will need several months to recover after his surgery. For him it is a bitter end to a season in which he shone as the match winner in the home game (1-0) in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Napoli.
Milan will face the tough task next week to turn the 2-0 deficit into the second leg against their rivals. Inter then hopes to take the final step towards the Champions League final in the home game, in which Real Madrid or Manchester City is the opponent.
