Carlo Ancelotti reacted outspokenly on Tuesday to the riot around Vinícius Júnior. Not for the first time, the apple of his eye fell victim to racist statements. The Italian trainer mercilessly dealt with that.
Ancelotti: “If we start playing football in Spain, it looks like war”
“Spain is not a racist country, but it does have a racism problem,” Ancelotti said clearly. The excited Vinícius was missing from the training field on Tuesday. His trainer sounded the alarm: “We are very concerned about what happened in Valencia. This is a subject that is talked about a lot and should be discussed a lot. We therefore have the opportunity to improve things quickly.”
In the run-up to the duel with Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti once again emphasized that it was not just a visit to Valencia that was a problem. He added, “Those racist slogans addressed to Vinícius, that didn’t happen for the first time. It already happened in Mallorca, in Valladolid. Only this time they started with those statements well before the match started.”
“In England there are no police at matches, but nowadays in Spain it seems as if there is a war as soon as football is played,” Ancelotti said disturbingly. “Only there are not 46,000 people in the stadium who are misbehaving, there are only two or three. If it’s up to me, we’ll make their names public. And I think they will, because it has to stop.”
The fact that Vinícius also got red after he let himself go, bothered Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilian was furious, his trainer saw. Only the seasoned trainer understands it. “ If you are approached aggressively, you must defend yourself. That’s what Vinicius did,” the Italian defended.
The attacker is resting due to a knee injury and will be back in the short term. “We don’t have to worry that Vinicius wants to leave us now,” Ancelotti reassured worried fans. “He loves Real Madrid. He wants to continue his career here and become a leader on the field.”
